In 1948, the Indian Railway Enquiry Committee reviewed working of commissions. While recommending their permanency, suggested that the work related to appeals should be withdrawn so that commission can give undivided attention to recruitments. In 1949, due to financial constraints a ban was imposed on recruitments on Indian Railways thus numbers of commissions was reduced to one centrally located at Bombay.In 1953-54 when Economic conditions of Indian Railway improved, four service commission were again set up at Bombay, Madras, Allahabad and Calcutta. In 1956, the Estimates committee generally approved the method of recruitment by the constitution of the Railway Service Commissions.

In 1973 to cater the needs of the Northern Eastern Railway and to facilitate recruitment from the under developed areas of that region an additional commission was set up at Muzaffarpur. In the same year a branch office of Calcutta Service Commission was opened at anchi. In 1978 one more additional Service Commission was set up at Secunderabad to cater for the needs of newly formed South Central Railway. Recruitment of staff for the needs of NF Railway was still being done through recruitment committee control by NF Railway . Thus in 1978 this job was entrusted to full fledged service commission with Head Quarters at Guwahati. Yet another service commission was opened in 1980 at Bangalore to cater for the needs of candidates from remote backward areas of Karnataka. In 1981 fulfledge service commission was opened at Danapur.

Seven more commissions were set up in 1983 at Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhuvneshwar, Chandigarh, Jammu and Srinagar with sitting at Leh and Trivendrum. False declaration / production of false certificate is an offence under the law and will lead to disqualification of the applicant, institution of criminal case and also dismissal from service, if appointed. PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING

The candidates are required to apply online. The relevant link will be made available from 0000 hrs on 12.03.2018 under the head “CAREER” of NBCC website i.e. www.nbccindia.gov.in. Online submission of application will be allowed on the website up to 2359 hrs on 11.04.2018. No other means / mode of application shall be accepted. Before filling the application online, candidates should keep ready scanned copy of passport size photograph & signature in jpg/jpeg format (Photo size less than 500 KB and signature size less than 200 KB). Fill in the online form with all the relevant details. Upload scanned copy of the photograph & signature. Candidates should ensure that the relevant details viz. Name, Date of Birth, Address, etc. entered in NBCC online application is correct. Detailed procedure regarding payment of fees is explained under “PAYMENT OF APPLICATION FEE”.for NBCC Recruitment 2018 payment of application fee read below instructions.

 NBCC Recruitment 2018 PAYMENT OF APPLICATION FEE
 Applicants/Candidates belonging to the General & OBC (NCL) category are required to pay a non-refundable amount of Rs.1000/- (Candidate will be
levied service tax and service charge from their transaction bank, as applicable). SC, ST, PWD & Departmental (Internal) candidates are exempted from
payment of application fee.
 Candidates are required to make application fee payment through debit card/credit card/net-banking. The candidate will be automatically/redirected to
make online payment (wherever fee is applicable), once the form is successfully completed.
No other mode of payment will be accepted. Application fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. Candidates are therefore requested
to verify their eligibility before payment of application fee.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
The Selection procedure will be decided by NBCC depending upon the response received against each post. The selection criteria can be by way of Personal
Interview or by way of Group Discussion (GD) followed by Personal Interview or written test followed by Group Discussion followed by Personal Interview or by
any other appropriate way. Decision of NBCC will be final in this regard.
The names of shortlisted candidates will be displayed on www.nbccindia.gov.in. under head “CAREER” Separate individual e-mails will be sent to the shortlisted
candidates. The final selection of the candidates will be based on the performance in the Personal Interview, where after the “Offer of Appointment” shall be
issued. Selected candidates will be on probation for one year.

Educational Qualification: Candidates should possess Matriculation (Matriculate or 10th Class in 10+2 examination ystem) with minimum 50% on average & ITI certificate from any institute affiliated to NCVT in relevant trade.

Selection Process: Candidates will be selected based on merit, verification of the original testimonials and their physical fitness.
